Rescue Operations Continue After Mining Tragedy in Balochistan
Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of seven miners and located an additional 25 victims following a mining incident in Balochistan. The search and rescue operation is ongoing as teams strive to find the remaining trapped workers. Provincial officials have reported that the death toll may increase as efforts continue.
Balochistan’s minister for mines and minerals, Shoaib Nosherwani, acknowledged the challenging conditions faced by rescue personnel while expressing condolences to the victims’ families. He announced that the provincial government is providing compensation of 500,000 Pakistani rupees (approximately $1,800) to the families of each miner killed in the blast.
Authorities have started to hand over the recovered bodies to their families for burial, while relatives of the missing miners remain anxious for updates on the ongoing search efforts.
He said authorities would conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion and review mining safety measures to prevent similar incidents.
