Israeli authorities have charged Avior Zaken, identified by Indian community workers as

Indian Caregiver Dies in Alleged Attack in Israel

Rajeev Acharya, an Indian caregiver, died on July 23, 2026, due to multiple injuries and severe blood loss, as confirmed by the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv.

Israeli authorities have charged Avior Zaken, identified by Indian community workers as the grandson of the elderly couple Acharya was caring for. Zaken is currently in custody while his case proceeds through the Israeli judicial system.

According to reports from the embassy and community groups, Acharya was resting in his room when he was reportedly attacked with a sharp object. He attempted to defend himself and escape before succumbing to his injuries.
