Houthi Strikes Target Saudi Naval Assets and Weapons Depot
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree confirmed that the group launched an attack using multiple ballistic missiles, targeting a landing ship. He characterized the strikes as ‘direct and precise,’ asserting that the ship caught fire and that some accompanying vessels sank or were set ablaze.
In a separate report, Saree stated that Houthi forces also struck a weapons depot utilized by Saudi forces at the Sahn al-Jin camp in Yemen’s northeastern Marib province, employing several drones. He claimed this strike resulted in a fire at the depot.
Houthi Attacks Intensify Amid Escalating Tensions with Saudi Arabia
Houthi forces have ramped up their military operations, targeting government-held regions in Yemen and Saudi Arabia-linked sites. This surge in attacks is particularly focused on Mocha, a crucial port city located near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital maritime passage connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The Houthis have publicly stated they are actively monitoring Saudi military movements and plan to continue their offensive against Saudi forces, both on land and at sea. They characterize their military strategy as a response to Saudi actions, encapsulated in their phrase “siege for siege.” This indicates a tit-for-tat approach in their ongoing conflict with Saudi Arabia, a principal backer of the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
