AGARTALA: The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of South Tripura Pradeep Krishnaraj, a 2021 batch Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) has been accused of assaulting his wife, who is a doctor, over dowry demands.
They also alleged that ADM has also threatened them with dire consequences and told them he will kill their daughter and no one can do anything. The victim Dr M J Difi alleged that Krishnaraj assaulted her badly and broke her hand during a scuffle last week at his quarter in Belonia. But Belonia police station didn’t register her complaint; rather, they misbehaved with her. Even then her husband continued to torture her with fresh demands, even her parents gave cash amount to his parents and his sister. Unable to cope with the abuse, Dr Difi filed a case of domestic violence in Kerala after her mother-in-law locked her in a room, where she was rescued by police. Allegedly, after severe assault on her by her husband, she immediately informed the matter to local police, but police did not register her complaint when they heard the name of ADM of South Tripura. She wrote to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Chief Secretary, and DGP to ensure justice for her and has also written letters to them demanding justice. how can state police deny them justice While her father and uncle complain that despite allegations of gross domestic violence and several injuries.
Later, she moved Tripura Women’s Commission to Agartala, and following its intervention, West Agartala police station registered a zero FIR on Saturday; however, Dr Difi told a press conference here that the investigation has made no progress.
After December 2022, initially, their marriage seemed peaceful, but soon after, Krishnaraj and his family began demanding a dowry, despite the substantial dowry given at the time of the wedding and Difi alleged that her parents had given him a huge amount of money and properties after their marriage.
