Karnataka Minister B Nagendra has denied media reports claiming he offered to resign.
BENGALURU: Karnataka Planning and Statistics Minister B Nagendra on Wednesday dismissed media reports that he had offered to resign, calling them “completely untrue”.
Rejecting the reports, Nagendra said he had neither received a call from the Chief Minister’s Office nor held any discussion on his resignation. I request your cooperation,” his office said in a statement quoting him. Speculation was rife that Nagendra had met Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and offered to step down, saying he did not want to cause further embarrassment to the party leadership. “The reports currently being aired in the media are completely untrue. I have not received any call from the Chief Minister’s Office, and there has been no discussion regarding any resignation.
The Opposition BJP and its ally JD(S) have been demanding Nagendra’s removal from the cabinet over alleged irregularities amounting to Rs 89 crore in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. Nagendra, who was then the Tribal Welfare Minister, had resigned in June 2024 amid the controversy. He was later re-inducted into the cabinet on August 3, 2026.
