MUMBAI: Model and actor Rhiya Ahir, who shot to prominence after a video from a student protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park went viral, is now in the race to enter the ‘Bigg Boss 20’ house through a fan-driven vote. The winner will receive an ‘Extra Jeevan Daan’ and enter the Bigg Boss house during the Grand Premiere on September 6. ‘Bigg Boss 20’ will premiere on JioHotstar and COLORS, with Salman Khan returning as the host. Voting is open exclusively on the JioHotstar app and will remain open until September 2 at 11:59 pm. With the audience holding the deciding vote, the contest between Rhiya and Gill is set to determine the final entrant into the ‘Bigg Boss 20’ house.
The winner will be announced during the Grand Premiere, when Salman Khan will welcome the audience’s choice into the house. Speaking about the opportunity, Rhiya said she was excited to have her entry decided by the fans and described herself as someone who does not back down under pressure or shy away from expressing her views. Love Gill, meanwhile, said he was ready to bring an unfiltered approach, honesty and Punjabi grit to the show, and urged viewers to vote for him. Rhiya gained attention last month after a video showed her blocking a Mumbai Police van carrying detained protesters during demonstrations at Shivaji Park. The video subsequently went viral on social media, bringing her into the spotlight. She is now competing against Love Gill for the show’s lone fan-voted entry into the house.
