UP School Holiday Calendar 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled its annual holiday calendar for schools and offices for the year 2025. The calendar lists a total of 24 public holidays and 31 restricted holidays. However, many of these holidays coincide with weekends, which may leave school students and office workers slightly disappointed.
The notice has also confirmed that national festivals such as Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) will remain as general holidays. These are optional holidays that employers may or may not provide, and schools or colleges may observe these days to honor significant historical or cultural events.
In 2025, 14 holidays fall on Saturdays or Sundays, meaning individuals will not enjoy extra days off for these occasions. With 2025 not being a leap year, the calendar will include a total of 365 days. the next leap year will occur in 2028 While the year 2024 had 366 days.
The official notice specifies that no additional holidays will be granted if any festival, event, or birth anniversary of a notable figure coincides with a pre-existing holiday. The holiday schedule provides a mix of cultural, national, and religious holidays, ensuring a balanced acknowledgment of India’s diverse traditions.
