In a November 2019 interview with PureWow, the singer opened up about the role motherhood played in changing her outlook on life. Ciara made the comments during an exclusive PureWow interview published on November 5, 2019 , in connection with Drinkfinity. The couple had married in 2016 and welcomed Sienna the following year. Their relationship has often been presented through major public moments, but Ciara’s 2019 comments offered a more personal look at what family meant to her. By 2019, she had moved well beyond her early success as a singer. Since that 2019 interview, Ciara and Wilson have continued to grow their family. They welcomed son Win in July 2020 and daughter Amora in December 2023, giving the couple three children together.
Because ciara was balancing motherhood with an increasingly broad professional life, that attitude became especially meaningful. Because they avoid the idea that a mother must choose between family and ambition, ciara’s comments have remained relevant. Because they came before some of those later milestones, the family has continued to share glimpses of their lives publicly, but Ciara’s earlier words remain particularly powerful.
She had released her Beauty Marks album, completed a tour and expanded her work beyond music, including business and fashion ventures. She had launched Beauty Marks Entertainment, completed a Harvard Business School course and released her own clothing collection. Her career may have introduced her to millions of people, but her children gave her a different definition of achievement.
“Motherhood has just shown me there’s really nothing we can’t do as women,” she explained. She described that experience as a blessing and said motherhood had pushed her to become a better version of herself.. She told PureWow that her children motivate her and that she hopes they will learn from the way she pursued her dreams. One short phrase from that interview captures the intensity behind her approach: “They make me go hard.”..
For Ciara, success has never been limited to music, awards or business milestones. At the time, she was raising two children while building her career, and she described her kids as the achievement that gave everything else deeper meaning. The conversation came at a busy stage in her career. Yet when she spoke about what mattered most, her children stood above those professional achievements. “I feel really empowered having my kids in my life. By far, my greatest accomplishment is having them.”.. That statement captured something central to Ciara’s view of motherhood. She was not describing parenting as a responsibility that competed with her ambitions. Instead, she saw it as a force that strengthened her. Her children gave her another reason to work hard, grow and keep moving forward. At the time of the interview, Ciara was mother to son Future Zahir, whom she shares with rapper Future, and daughter Sienna, whom she shares with Russell Wilson. The singer also explained that becoming a mother had changed the way she approached other parts of her life. She credited her children with helping her become more responsible and patient while developing greater compassion for other people.. Her message was simple. Motherhood had not reduced her ambitions. It had expanded them. Ciara and Russell Wilson have built a family life that has unfolded alongside two demanding careers. Wilson, an NFL quarterback, has spent years performing under intense public pressure, while Ciara has continued to work across music, fashion, entertainment and business. She spoke about raising her children, watching them develop their own personalities and learning from their young perspective. One of the most striking parts of her reflection was her belief that children can change the way their parents see the world. For Ciara, raising her kids was not simply about guiding them. It was also about allowing their presence to shape her. That outlook helps explain why she connected motherhood with empowerment. Her children became part of the reason behind her determination rather than something separate from it. Ciara also looked beyond the present. Her hope was that her children would one day understand the effort behind everything she had built. She wanted them to see a mother who pursued her goals instead of allowing fear or uncertainty to decide what she could achieve. She hoped her own journey would become a lesson for them. For her, those accomplishments were important. But they were not the final measure of success. Her children were. Her story presents a different picture. She sees the two parts of her life as connected. Ciara also remains a mother to Future Zahir from her previous relationship. She was already accomplished when she made them. She had already experienced fame, commercial success and the pressures that come with being a public figure. Still, when asked what had changed her life most, she pointed toward her children. For Ciara, motherhood was not simply another role added to an already busy life. It became a source of confidence, patience and purpose. In her own words, they were her greatest accomplishment.
