Bengaluru: At least 13 Karnataka residents, including 11 from Bengaluru Urban district, are stranded in Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region following flash floods, while four Bengaluru-origin Kannadigas living in the US and travelling on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra remain untraceable, the state govt said Thursday. The state emergency operations centre has compiled details of the stranded residents — 11 are from Bengaluru Urban, one from Mysuru, and one from Dharwad district, according to the chief minister’s office.
The authority said it has established contact with two Karnataka residents stranded in floods, Mallinath Kolakundi and Sangamesh Kanakapura, both from Chincholi taluk in Kalaburagi district. Mallinath said he was a fan of Shivakumar and a devotee of God. Most of them are at Timure in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, while a few are in Darchen in Tibet Autonomous Region. They are part of larger groups that include people from other states. Details of the stranded residents are being shared with the rapid response cells of the ministry of external affairs and Indian missions in Kathmandu and Beijing. Chief minister DK Shivakumar spoke to Mallinath over a video call and enquired about his well-being.
