A 22-year-old student from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, reported an incident of alleged sexual harassment by a food delivery man. The incident occurred on August 15, according to Vastrapur police officers. The student claimed that the harassment took place during the delivery of a parcel.
Though the alleged harassment occurred on Aug 15, a complaint was given to Vastrapur police on Wednesday. The accused, Nipam Thakkar, 37, has been booked for sexual harassment under BNS. Inspector G M Chaudhary of Vastrapur police said that the incident took place in the afternoon. Chaudhary said, “The accused had gone to IIM to deliver a food order. he told her, ‘You look like an angel’, and made lewd gestures While the student was giving him the OTP for the delivery. “The institute’s internal inquiry committee discussed this issue after which the student approached police,” said Chaudhary.
After entering the institute’s gate, the food delivery boy went to the dormitory where the student lived. The complainant alleged he made some obscene gestures while delivering the food parcel. Police will record the statements of staff and other IIM-A students, verify the CCTV footage and other documentary evidence in the case. Download the TOI App.
