NMC has intensified its drive to repair road potholes across city roads
The repair drive follows Fadnavis’ direction during an Aug 7 Kumbh review meeting to fix potholes across the city. Officials claimed nearly 90% of the around 21,000 potholes identified across the city have been repaired. Because of increased traffic due to ongoing Kumbh works, they added that roads such as Ambad Link Road and Makhmalabad Road are receiving special attention. Residents, however, said the latest drive exposes the civic body’s tendency to shift into action mode only when a dignitary is due to arrive.

Civic officials said additional manpower has been deployed to refill potholes that resurfaced after recent rain spells and maintain roads affected by Kumbh-related traffic diversions. Most repairs are currently temporary monsoon measures using GSB material, and some potholes have reappeared after fresh rainfall,” an NMC official said. “Our focus is to keep major roads safe and motorable for commuters,” the official said.
