A speeding sleeper bus crashed into a wall on a curved bridge near Biaora, Rajgarh.
Four passengers, including the driver, died in the accident, while 11 others sustained injuries.
Among the deceased was a cyber inspector from Bengaluru who was travelling to Indore to apprehend an accused, police said. Police said preliminary investigation suggested that overspeeding may have led to the accident. “The bridge has a curve, and prima facie it appears that the bus was travelling at high speed and lost control,” said an officer.
Four of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. Soon after the accident, police and district administration teams reached the spot. With the help of local residents, passengers trapped inside the mangled bus were evacuated and taken to the Civil Hospital in Biaora. Those with serious injuries were referred to Bhopal after receiving initial treatment. Police were also working to establish the identities of all four deceased.
