Kochi : An unidentified person allegedly duped a 67-year-old man of Rs 7 lakh on the pretext of dispatching his pension card.
As per the complaint, the complainant’s father received a call from an unknown number around 6.55pm on Aug 7. Subsequently, the elderly man lost Rs 7 lakh from his bank account. He later called him again via WhatsApp from another number and told him that he needed to submit address details for despatching the card and sent him a hyperlink. The caller spoke to him about his pension card. The complainant’s father clicked on the link and submitted the details even as the caller continued to remain on the call. The police recorded the statement of the woman and registered an FIR under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
