Agra: Military Intelligence (MI) intercepted a man while attempting to gain entry into an Army installation in Mathura using a forged identity card and handed him over to the local police, who are probing the espionage angle. Another man who helped in forging the fake ID card was arrested later following a joint probe by UP Police and MI.
A case was registered at Sadar Bazar police station on Aug 27 on charges of cheating and forgery, alongside provisions of the Official Secrets Act. Following a probe, the man who allegedly made the fake ID card was identified as 22-year-old Akash Kumar, a native of Aligarh residing in Bulandshahr. A search at Akash’s premises yielded a massive haul of forged administrative documents and hardware, including a laptop and two mobile phones, 12 Aadhaar cards , 12 debit cards, two PAN cards, a voter ID card and a driving licence.
During interrogation, Rajaram revealed that he had earlier worked in Jammu & Kashmir handling and washing Army supplies. SP (City) Rajiv Kumar Singh said, “A probe is on to find out the motive behind the attempted breach. Leveraging his familiarity with military operations, he allegedly got a fake Army ID card made under his name to facilitate unauthorised access, said police. Rajaram Detained Near Restricted Area
Rajaram, a 23-year-old resident of Kharot village in Mathura’s Kosi Kalan, was apprehended by authorities on August 26. His suspicious behavior near a restricted facility raised alarms, prompting officials to intervene before he could gain access to the premises.
