Man posed as NFL player in $1.3M fraud case What did Daejon Labrayae Love allegedly do?
A 35-year-old man accused of pretending to be a San Francisco 49ers player is facing federal fraud charges after allegedly taking about $1.3 million from at least 26 women. Daejon Labrayae Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan were arrested at an airport in Boise, Idaho, on August 24.
Love allegedly created fake identities and used them to make women believe he was a successful NFL player, according to the federal complaint. The complaint says Love allegedly convinced many women that they were in real romantic relationships. He then told them he wanted to build wealth and a future together before introducing investment opportunities that prosecutors say did not exist.
Federal prosecutors say Love met many women through dating apps and presented himself as a wealthy NFL player or real estate investor. Chan allegedly acted as his financial adviser. The FBI believes there could be more victims. He reportedly presented himself as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and used social media, football images and a luxury lifestyle to support the claim. His social media profile allegedly described him as an “NFL Wide Receiver @49ers #undrafted. Authorities say Love was not a 49ers player. He allegedly used several names, including Jon Love, Daejon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love.
