HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old NEET-PG aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Hyderabad on Saturday, a day before she was scheduled to appear for the postgraduate medical entrance examination, police said. In the note, she stated that she had been suffering from depression since her intermediate education (Classes 11 and 12), a police official said. Preliminary investigation suggests that she may have taken the extreme step due to her prolonged struggle with the condition.
Police said she had been undergoing treatment and taking medication for depression. A purported suicide note was recovered from her room. The note did not mention anything related to the NEET-PG examination, he added.
She had been staying at the hostel for the past seven months while preparing for the NEET-PG examination and was scheduled to take the test on Sunday, according to police.
A case has been registered at Chikkadapally police station and further investigation is underway.
