Hyderabad : Two merchants from Andhra Pradesh allegedly cheated a Telangana govt-backed farmers’ federation of ₹7 crore by procuring agricultural commodities worth more than ₹22 crore and defaulting on payments. Based on complaints lodged by the organisation, the Central Crime Station (CCS) police registered two cases against the accused.
“They promised a 50% advance payment and the balance within 30 days. During the preliminary investigation, Saifabad police recorded the complainant’s statement and transferred the cases to the CCS on Aug 25. The CCS police registered two separate cases against the accused under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) and 318(4) (cheating) of the BNS on Aug 25 and launched an investigation.
However, after selling the produce in the open market, they failed to clear the dues,” the complainant told the police. Based on separate complaints filed by Krishnaveni, two Zero FIRs were registered at Khammam III Town police station in July and later transferred to Saifabad police.
