The court also imposed a fine of Rs 48,000 on Rehaman, news agency ANI reported. The case was initially registered by Karnataka Police in Bengaluru on January 10, 2020. The NIA subsequently took over the investigation and re-registered the case on January 23, 2020. Earlier, Mohammed Haneef Khan was convicted by the special NIA court in July 2026 after pleading guilty and was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 48,000.
The conspiracy was allegedly masterminded by Mehaboob Pasha, who held meetings at his residence in Gurappanapalya, Bengaluru, according to the NIA investigation. The agency’s investigation had also identified jungle locations in Karnataka, including areas around Shivanasamudra and Gundlupet, as potential sites for training camps and hideouts for members of the alleged Al-Hind module.
