Four men were apprehended by Khar Police in Mumbai for the mugging of a 28-year-old man. The incident occurred when the victim entered the mangroves at Carter Road, Bandra, to relieve himself. During the encounter, he was assaulted and had his cellphone, documents, and cash stolen.
Around 10.30 pm on Aug 27, he had gone to Carter Road for work and decided to take a stroll after he got done. The accused also robbed him of his Aadhaar card , PAN card, driving licence and Rs 600 in cash. The complainant is a UP native and works at a salon in Juhu. To attend nature’s call, he ventured into the mangroves in the darkness. Suddenly, four men approached him and started to hurl expletives at him. They started to beat him up and laid him horizontally on the ground. Two of the men held the complainant’s hands while the others took his mobile phone from his trouser pocket and rained punches on him. When he protested, the accused threatened to throw him into the sea. The complainant suffered injuries on his elbow, face and back. When the accused started to leave, the complainant raised an alarm but they pushed him away. After a complaint was lodged with Khar Police, teams were formed and the quartet was held within a few hours. The accused are footpath dwellers from Dharavi and Bandra. Download the TOI App.
