Police have intensified the search to trace the accused, K V Ganapathy from Kizhakkegramam, after he allegedly went into hiding
The panchayat subsequently informed the police, who registered a case against Ganapathy on Aug 24. Police verification also revealed that Ganapathy had worked under the MGNREGS in Pudukkode panchayat for five years until last month, allegedly using the same documents.
Police said Ganapathy had submitted a certificate while applying for the post of accountant-cum-IT assistant under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at Pudukkode panchayat. Police have intensified the search to trace the accused, K V Ganapathy from Kizhakkegramam, after he allegedly went into hiding. The certificate was found to be fake during verification by the panchayat secretary. The FIR states that he allegedly attempted to deceive the state govt and the panchayat by submitting a fake consolidated grade card in the name of the University of Calicut. The police have invoked provisions under BNS relating to breach of trust, cheating and forgery. Ganapathy challenged the decision in the Kerala high court, which stayed it. Following the university’s response, the panchayat secretary lodged a complaint with the police. Ganapathy reportedly went into hiding after the alleged forgery came to light.
The panchayat committee had earlier decided not to extend his employment contract after the tenure of temporary employees ended.
