The scooter which was stolen
Bengaluru: A 21-year-old electronics technician who fell unconscious after skidding on a rain-soaked road in Annapoorneshwarinagar woke up to find his scooter and mobile phone missing, leaving him with no option but to walk home in the middle of the night. Ajay was riding his aunt Bhagyamma’s Honda Dio (KA-02-JU-1827) home around 12.45am on Aug 20 when he fell near a salon, according to his complaint. Ajay approached police on Aug 26 and filed a complaint seeking action and recovery of his belongings. The grey scooter, bought in 2018, is currently valued at around Rs 50,000.
Since it was raining heavily, I lost balance and fell on the road. After that, I lost consciousness,” he told TOI . “I had visited my aunt’s house and was returning home after having dinner. The last I remember is two persons coming to my help. They lifted the scooter and took me to the roadside. The following morning, Ajay and his family searched the area but could not trace the scooter or phone.
A senior officer said Ajay was not wearing a helmet and had lost consciousness briefly.
I then started walking,” he said. “When I regained consciousness, I found no one around me and my scooter was missing. I had kept my phone in the scooter’s storage box as it was raining, so I didn’t have any way to call my family members or friends. “When we checked CCTV cameras of surrounding buildings, the footage was not clear. We could only find Ajay riding the scooter.”
A case has been registered under BNS Section 303 (theft) and investigation is on.
