Belagavi : The registrar of cooperative societies has cancelled Belagavi District Central Cooperative Bank’s (BDCC Bank) recruitment notification issued on July 21 to fill 104 posts, citing multiple violations of recruitment rules and government directives. In a letter to the bank’s chief executive officer on Aug 25, the registrar’s office said the recruitment process failed to comply with Rules 17 and 18 of the Karnataka Cooperative Societies Rules, 1960, government orders, the bank’s human resources policy, and conditions attached to the approval granted for recruitment. Under Rule 17(2)(a), candidates must have studied Kannada as a subject in SSLC, but the requirement was not properly reflected in the notification. The office also objected to omission of a one-time, five-year relaxation in the upper age limit for direct recruitment candidates, granted by the state govt through an order dated Jan 29 and valid until Dec 31, 2027. The registrar noted that the 15% internal reservation for Scheduled Castes, introduced through a govt order on May 13, 2026, was also not implemented.

The bank has been directed to withdraw the notification and submit a fresh recruitment proposal after obtaining prior approval from the Cooperative Department and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, govt orders, bye-laws and NABARD guidelines.
