Hyderabad: The AIMIM has appointed Bahadurpura MLA Mohammed Mubeen as in-charge of the Rajendranagar assembly constituency, replacing expelled party MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig.

In an official statement, the party said Mubeen has been authorised to represent AIMIM and oversee organisational activities in the constituency. Sources said Baig had told close aides that he continued to have faith in AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and believed he would get justice, maintaining that he had committed no wrongdoing. Party office-bearers and members have been directed to coordinate with him on organisational matters. A senior AIMIM leader expressed confidence that Baig would resign soon. The move comes after AIMIM expelled Rahmat Baig on Saturday amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving a minor. The party had also asked him to resign as MLC, but he had not submitted his resignation to Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy on Sunday.
