Police said that of the four killed, three belonged to Maharajganj in UP, while the driver hailed from Rajasthan. Lucknow: Four people were killed after an out-of-control truck broke through the divider and landed on a car travelling in the opposite lane on the Yamuna Expressway in Jewar, Greater Noida, late Sunday.
The accident occurred around 11 pm in the Jewar police station area when a Rajasthan-registered truck (RJ-05 GB-5526) apparently lost control, smashed through the railing and divider, and crossed into the opposite carriageway.
Their identities were being ascertained, police said. ACP Sisodia said a preliminary investigation indicated that the truck went out of control, resulting in the accident. The truck then became airborne and crashed onto a Delhi-registered car travelling towards the national capital. The impact severely damaged the car and left all four occupants critically injured. Police reached the spot and used a JCB to move the truck before rushing the injured to Jeevan Kailash Hospital, where doctors declared all four dead. ACP Jewar Rajiv Sisodia and a large police force reached the site and cleared the damaged vehicles to restore traffic movement. The truck driver has been taken into custody and is undergoing a medical examination. Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.
