Fadnavis said efforts to develop the park and conserve its wildlife had been underway. “These animals will certainly make it a big draw for tourists,” Fadnavis said. The state plans to launch an African-themed safari next year featuring the so-called Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. The zoo is open to visitors and draws decent footfalls, while the African safari is yet to be completed. Work on a unique ‘walking safari trail’ is also nearing completion, with animals housed in enclosures along a winding path surrounded by curated landscapes.
