BJP’s Allegations Against Doshi Spark Debate on Proposal Approvals
A Shiv Sena functionary has stated that no proposals are approved without discussions among alliance leaders. However, BJP officials have accused Doshi of having her husband attend unofficial pre-meetings to influence decisions on her behalf. In response, Doshi labeled these claims as “loose talks,” asserting that her husband’s presence was solely due to party events and that he does not participate in committee decisions. She emphasized that all members of the Mahayuti alliance are consulted prior to any proposal approval.
Moreover, Shiv Sena representatives noted that the BJP, holding a majority in the civic house, retains the power to block any proposals if they choose to object.
One corporator cited a redevelopment proposal involving amalgamation of two BMC leasehold plots in Wadala under Section 33(7) of the Development Control and Promotion Regulations.
A BJP functionary said the committee’s functioning had been “arbitrary and one-sided,” alleging that Doshi held individual meetings on old proposals without committee discussion. The committee is chaired by Shiv Sena corporator Sandhya Doshi. BJP members of the committee met Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam last week and raised concerns over the panel’s functioning. They alleged that proposals they wanted discussed or put to vote were cleared without voting. Despite a BJP corporator asking that the proposal not be taken up, Doshi allegedly proceeded and cleared it.
