Mumbai: Developer Vaman Madye, who is accused of cheating his business partner Basant Sethia over Rs 11.51 crore in an offence registered by Economic Offences Wing (EOW), has claimed that the allegations against him are an attempt to criminalise a civil dispute that is already sub judice before Bombay high court.
He said the allegations had earlier been investigated by EOW, which, according to him, had given him a clean chit.
Madye further alleged that the allegations were revived to divert attention from the Rs 263 crore EOW case filed by him against Sethia. EOW registered a cheating case against Madye on Sethia’s complaint, alleging that Madye concealed the prior sale of 19 flats in a Bandra (E) slum rehabilitation project and diverted more than Rs 11.51 crore in sale proceeds.
