Stunned by the security lapse, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration and police have started an investigation.
A similar incident occurred in Oct 2025, when a devotee was caught taking photos with smart glasses. Stunned by the security lapse, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple administration and police have started an investigation. Investigators are examining how the youth crossed the three-layer security cordon with the smart glasses despite a ban on electronic gadgets inside the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi complex, which falls in the highly sensitive category. After criticism mounted, the youth deleted the video and later removed his account. Police are checking CCTV footage and entry points to identify lapses during the screening process. The complex has remained under strict security since the Babri demolition, with a standing committee overseeing arrangements under Supreme Court directives. The incident exposed gaps in the temple’s multi-level security checkpoints, which prohibit electronic devices and cameras.
Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra said on Monday that officials of the temple administration, in coordination with the police, were investigating the matter.
