Four-month-old twin babies were found dead at their home in Vajarahalli, south Bengaluru

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru : Four-month-old twin babies were found dead at their home in Vajarahalli, south Bengaluru, Tuesday, while their mother was found trying to end her life in the same room.

Talaghattapura police have registered a case under BNS section 103 (punishment for murder).

Ramalingappa said for one and a half month after the delivery, Umadevi had allegedly shown disinterest towards the children and said she wanted to be admitted to an ashram. She was subsequently taken for treatment at hospitals in Raghuvanahalli and Nimhans, where doctors reportedly attributed her behaviour to postpartum depression and hormonal imbalance following childbirth.

On Tuesday, Ramalingappa returned home around 2.45pm and found the door of a room locked. They were rushed to a private hospital, where doctors said they may have died due to drowning. After forcing it open, he found Umadevi hanging from a dupatta and rescued her. The twins were found unconscious inside the same room. The family suspects she drowned the babies in a bucket full of water.
