Thane hospital serves dal with dead cockroach to patient: The wider industry impact

CSMM Hospital launched an inquiry after a patient received dal with a dead cockroach

The incident allegedly took place on Aug 28, when an elderly woman from Airoli was served dinner containing the alleged insect.

Swapnali Kadam, dean of CSMM Hospital, said the administration had taken cognisance of media reports about the incident and initiated a probe, the report of which is awaited. “Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, we have started pest control and sanitisation of our kitchen area,” said Kadam. “Fellow patients clicked photographs, which went viral,” said MNS activist Swapnil Mahindrakar, adding he had written to the municipal commissioner and FDA, seeking an inspection of the hospital kitchen and its food-handling practices.
