Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) inspected 19 cafes and snack points across the city on Wednesday, closing two establishments and suspending the FSSAI licence of another for violations.
Housefly and cockroach infestations were also reported at some establishments.
Fifteen samples were collected and sent for analysis,” an official said. Dreamz Cafeteria in Bagh Lingampally and Asiatic Café in Punjagutta were closed for operating without valid FSSAI licences or registrations. Meanwhile, the FSSAI licence of Shadab Hotel in Madina was suspended, and the management was directed to stop operations immediately following multiple violations related to hygiene, sanitation, and the handling and storage of meat and other food articles. During the inspections, officials found open dustbins, littering, food handlers without headgear, expired and spoiled food products, improper storage and handling practices, and violations of food labelling and display regulations. “Perishable food exposed to dust and flies was discarded on the spot, while tea powder, ginger-garlic paste, biscuits and other suspected adulterated items were seized.
Improvement notices will also be issued to 12 establishments, including Café Persia, Café Deccan, Honeymoon Café, Rio Restaurant, Friends Café, Diamond Point Hotel, Hotel Imroz, and Nimra Café and Bakery. Furthermore, show-cause notices have been issued to five establishments, including Golden Café, Mirosa Café, Asiatic Café and Shadab Hotel.
