John Ternus became Apple CEO on September 1 after more than 25 years at the company, but his LinkedIn profile still does not list him as CEO.
Apple’s new CEO John Ternus may have just told millions of professionals around the world that LinkedIn is ‘not important’ when you are trying to reach the top of the tech industry. Instead, the profile identifies Ternus as Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering. It also leaves out much of his career at Apple, including his involvement with major products such as the Apple Watch and AirPods.
Apple’s internal pages were updated immediately after Ternus took over from Tim Cook on September 1. Most notably, the profile has not yet been updated to show his new position as Apple CEO.
Tesla and X chief Elon Musk replied to Ternu’s Hello post writing, “Congrats!””before following up with an additional comment noting, “New Apple CEO posting on X”. John Ternus’ LinkedIn page contains only a small amount of information about his professional career. It lists his time at Apple and a four-year stint as an engineer at Virtual Research Inc. The profile also mentions his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Apart from a profile picture and Apple as a followed interest, there is little else. Notably, Ternus currently follows only three accounts: Apple, Tim Cook and Apple senior vice president of marketing Greg Joswiak.
