Dharwad : Karnatak University has sought Rs 37 crore in govt funding to undertake a series of development projects as it prepares to celebrate its 75th anniversary, vice-chancellor Prof AM Khan said on Thursday.
Prof Khan said the proposals would be placed before higher education minister Basavaraj Rayareddy at the higher education council meeting on Sept 11, which will be attended by vice-chancellors of all state universities. The university has sought Rs 30 crore to modernise the Rani Chennamma stadium, develop a hockey turf adjacent to the stadium, and upgrade the existing swimming pool into a modern sports facility. Another Rs 5 crore has been sought for repairs and renovation of the historic Vidyasoudha administrative building, while Rs 2 crore has been requested to equip the university library with advanced technology and digital facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations.
