A political dispute over Prime Minister Modi’s photograph removal caused a brief adjournment in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation
KALYAN: The political controversy over the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s photograph at a college in Pune by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers spilled over into the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) on Wednesday, with the civic standing committee meeting being adjourned for 10 minutes in protest against the incident.
The party has demanded that the Shinde Sena end its understanding with the MNS, failing which it has threatened to withdraw from the Mahayuti arrangement in the civic body.
They limited their protest to demanding an adjournment and then returned to the meeting after the 10-minute break. The move came a day after the BJP warned that it would withdraw from the Mahayuti alliance in the civic body and sit in the Opposition if the Shiv Sena (Shinde) failed to sever its alliance with the MNS. Despite announcing that it could withdraw from the alliance and sit in the Opposition, BJP members attended the standing committee meeting.
