IPS officer Prakash Nikam has took charge as the new police commissioner of Belagavi

Senior police officers, including SP Ramarajan and DCP Narayana Bharamani, were present on the occasion. Belagavi: IPS officer Prakash Nikam has took charge as the new police commissioner of Belagavi on Thursday, following the transfer of commissioner Bhushan Borase.

The appointment of the 2012-batch Karnataka cadre officer marks a change in leadership at the Belagavi Police Commissionerate. A native of Maharashtra , Nikam worked as an IPS probationary officer in 2014 in Belagavi.

Speaking to media, Nikam said the exemplary work done by outgoing police commissioner in Belagavi will be continued. Nikam said he would make every effort to perform his work well with the cooperation of people here and the support of police officers. Nikam, has served as a police officer in Vijayapura, Udupi, Karkala, and Bengaluru, before being sent on deputation to the Union home department. Upon his arrival, the new police commissioner was warmly welcomed with police honours.
