Hyderabad: A visit to the Basara temple turned tragic for a 25-year-old MBA student from Nizamabad district, who died after accidentally falling into the Godavari River while taking photographs on the bridge on Tuesday. His family members, who learnt about the incident, launched a search for him with the help of others. The incident came just days before he was scheduled to return to the UK, where he was pursuing his MBA. After offering prayers, he went to the bridge across the Godavari and was taking photographs when he accidentally slipped and fell into the river. Police registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Sai Kiran’s father, Ramavath Bhojaram, and began an investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident. Sai Kiran’s death has left his family in shock, particularly as he was to return to the UK within days to continue his studies. Police urged visitors to exercise caution while taking photographs near bridges, rivers and other water bodies and avoid standing at unsafe spots for selfies or photographs.
Inspector, Basara police station, on Tuesday, Sai Kiran visited the Sri Gnana Saraswati temple at Basara, according to S Deepak.
He was scheduled to fly back to the UK on Sept 5 after spending time with his family. Ramavath Sai Kiran, a native of Kaulpur village in Nandipet mandal, had recently returned to his village from the UK. The body was subsequently handed over to the family after the required procedures.
After an overnight search, his body was found in the Godavari on Wednesday.
