On Thursday afternoon, a 17-year-old college girl was fatally stabbed at Ravi Nagar Chowk in Amravati. The incident occurred in broad daylight, causing alarm among the crowded area. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, which has left the community in shock.
The incident took place between 12:30pm to 12:45pm when Sharvari was going to college. After an argument at Ravi Nagar Chowk, he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her 8 times on her neck, chest, and stomach. The accused, identified as Anand Nandkishor, resident of Murtizapur, Akola district, allegedly chased her on his two-wheeler. During the scuffle, the accused’s mobile phone and wallet fell at the spot. Two local youths, Vinay Kale and Rahul Ingole, rushed her in an auto to RIMS Hospital. The hospital informed Rajapeth Police, but she succumbed during treatment. Senior officials including DCP Shyam Ghuge, PI Sandeep Chavan of Rajapeth PS, and crime branch police inspectors Atul War and Dinesh Dahatonde visited the spot. Congress functionary Yashomati Thakur criticised police and questioned where the Damini Squad, meant to protect women, has disappeared.
The victim, Sharvari Ganesh Hadke, 17, a resident of Ambavihar. She was a first-year B.Sc student of Shri Brijlal Biyani Science College, Ravinagar. She is survived by her parents and a younger brother.
