Some individuals were allegedly campaigning in the village to persuade people to change their religion, according to a complaint filed by Gulampurwa resident Ram Kumar Das. SHO of Jarwal Road police station Santosh Kumar Singh said police registered an FIR against all three accused based on the complaint and arrested Ramvriksh. He said the allegations are being investigated and further action will be taken based on evidence collected during the probe.
The complaint alleged that economically weaker and vulnerable villagers were being offered money and other inducements to adopt Christianity. The allegations have reportedly angered some residents, who expressed concern that the situation could affect peace and law and order in the area if timely action is not taken. Ram Kumar Das named Radheshyam Gupta, Dinesh Yadav and Ramvriksh in his complaint, accusing them of attempting to facilitate religious conversions through inducements. Police have not disclosed further details about the alleged conversion activities or the nature of the benefits reportedly offered to villagers. The investigation is underway. Download the TOI App.
