The answer, according to Aaron Rodgers himself, is deceptively simple. “I had a public relationship, how did that work out?” he said on The Pat McAfee Show last June. “I dealt with politically bipolar,” he said, without naming anyone specifically. “Not just that, but stalked at the coffee shop I would frequent, the gym at ProActive that I would go to, which was really bizarre,” Rodgers said. “We’re not living at the beach anymore,” he said. “If and when she wants to be out, and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that and she has a right to that,” he said. “I’m happy to be reunited, and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition,” he said during an August 1 appearance on NFL Network. “Having those conversations with my wife allowed me to open up to the possibility of coming together,” Rodgers said.
Brittani never asked to be famous. She has no social media presence. And Rodgers has been fiercely deliberate about keeping it that way. “Now, I’m with somebody who’s private, who doesn’t want to be in the public eye, didn’t sign up to be a celebrity, doesn’t want to be a part of it. “I dealt with depressed relevant seeking. I dealt with people that wanted to search out other possibilities before they could commit to me. And then they go on TV talking about how I ruin their lives. “And then the paparazzi was stalking me for a long time flying drones over my house. The situation got bad enough that he moved out of his Malibu home entirely. “Part of it is, I have legitimate stalkers, and I don’t say that lightly or flippantly. This is the context that most coverage misses. The secrecy around Brittani is not a publicity strategy or a calculated mystique. It is a direct response to real safety concerns. “It’s been a couple-year process now, the conversations with them. I’ve been very closed off about that part of my life, and I want to keep it that way. But there’s been a narrative that’s gone on for too long that I wanted to shut down, and it’s been really beautiful to reconnect with them. All of them.”
Since then, the curiosity has turned into something Rodgers describes as genuinely alarming.
