Kochi : In connection with a case registered by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) on Aug 13 on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh, the vigilance team arrested Kripa N K, 59, a retired deputy collector, on Friday.
Kripa, a native of Kadavanthra, acted as a middleman. As part of ‘Project Zero’, Ernakulam VACB had, through a trap operation, caught Ernakulam Kanayannur land records tahsildar Joseph Antony Hartees, and middlemen Rajesh N S and Joseph Shibin, for accepting a bribe by promising to provide the necessary assistance for reclassifying a property. The property was registered in the name of the complainant’s father, a native of Kaloor.
Vigilance director Manoj Abraham IPS requested that if the public comes to know of any information regarding corruption, they should call Vigilance’s toll-free number 1064, or the number 8592900900, or the WhatsApp number 9447789100. During further investigation, based on the revelation that Kripa had acted as a middleman in connection with the bribe transaction, VACB made the arrest.
