City police arrested a 41-year-old businessman on charges of assaulting a 65-year-old man over road rage in Kengeri on Sunday evening. Police records show that Naveen was arrested in a murder case reported in Jnanabharati during 2024, and the matter is in court now. Naveen’s family members, including 2 women, came out on hearing Nanjundappa’s screams for help.

The accused is B Naveen of RR Layout in Nagadevanahalli. CCTV footage obtained from nearby houses during the police investigation shows how impatiently Naveen honked at Nanjundappa. Reacting to the continuous honking, Nanjundappa beckoned Naveen to move freely, as the entire road was empty. Nanjundappa also asked, “Why are you honking when I am on the extreme left lane and not blocking your car? They tried to stop Naveen from further attack, but in vain. At one stage, Naveen pushed Nanjundappa down and attacked him by sitting on his chest. By then, neighbours, passers-by, and other commuters gathered, pulled Naveen aside, and his family pushed him inside the house. He was handed over to the judicial custody of Bengaluru Central Prison.

After getting treated at a local hospital for his bruising injuries, Nanjundappa filed a complaint with Kengeri police, who immediately arrested Naveen and produced him before the court on Monday.
