HEAD: 24_Che_AS_Tax consultant arrested for defrauding firm of Rs 5-5 lakh with forged receipts Tax consultant arrested for defrauding firm of Rs 5.5 lakh with forged receipts Chennai: Ashok Nagar police arrested a 43-year-old tax consultant on Tuesday for defrauding a private firm of over Rs 5.5 lakh by providing forged tax payment receipts. Police said, R Prabhu, a resident of Kovilambakkam, was arrested at his residence at 7 a.m. following an investigation into a complaint filed in Nov last year. Babu filed a formal complaint on Nov 15, 2024. Police registered a case on Feb 7, 2026, after preliminary verification.
Police are questioning Prabhu regarding the misappropriation of funds and the creation of fake govt documents. They are also investigating whether other clients of his consultancy were similarly defrauded. Prabhu was arrested on Tuesday and brought to Ashok Nagar police station for interrogation.
