The deceased are Chris Sam Biju (17), son of Biju Sam Varghese from Mylapra Vadakkemattapally, and Joshin Binu (17), son of Binu from Konnivellappara Kidangayil. Both were Plus Two students at Mylapra Mount Bethany School. They went to bathe in the Pamba River at Kalarikkal Kadavu in Ranni Aythala. The boys went to swim in the river with their friends. Chris and Joshin were swept away by the current while bathing at Kalarikkal Kadavu. they were pulled into the depths Although their companions tried to save them. Despite locals rushing to help after hearing the commotion, their efforts were in vain. The fire force unit from Ranni conducted a search at night.
