Ahmedabad: In the Khokhra area of Ahmedabad, 15-year-old Nitin Kumar Paswan is preparing to appear for his Class 10 board examinations with remarkable determination by writing with his feet. Born with a condition that left both his hands non-functional, Nitin has 60 percent disability. From Class 1 until now, he appeared for every examination independently, without any assistance. A local municipal school teacher eventually intervened and helped him gain admission to a municipal school, where he studied from Classes 1 to 8. He later enrolled at Rashtrabharati School for Classes 9 and 10. After completing Class 10, he aspires to prepare for a career in the Railways. MSID:: 128754565 413 |

Speaking about his decision, Nitin said he believes writing the exam himself will help him perform better, as he prepared accordingly. As per examination rules, he is eligible for a writer to assist him during the board exams. However, Nitin chose to decline the facility and instead write the papers on his own using his feet, a skill he mastered over the years. A student of Rashtrabharati Hindi High School, where he studies in the Hindi medium, Nitin practised writing with his feet since early childhood. What began as a necessity gradually turned into a strength. Through daily practice at home, he developed neat handwriting and the speed required to complete exam papers within the stipulated time. Securing admission to school was not easy. Determined to study, Nitin continued learning at home. As he heads into his board examinations, Nitin’s story stands as a testament to resilience, self-belief, and the power of determination in overcoming adversity.
