Pune: A 44-year-old resident of Dombivli died, and her friend and daughter suffered injuries after an SUV hit their car head-on on a bridge on Kolwadi-Theur road at 7.45am on Friday. Sub-inspector Yogesh Paithane of Loni Kalbhor police said, “It is a case of hit-and-run. We have obtained the registration number and will track its driver,” Paithane said. Loni Kalbhor police identified the deceased woman as Simrot Nayak. She worked in a corporate office in Mumbai. Her daughter Pallavi Nayak and her friend Nitin Gangurde were admitted to a hospital in Wagholi. Pallavi is a college student and Gangurde works with a private firm in Nashik. Gangurde lodged a police complaint. Gangurde and Nayak were heading to Bengaluru to attend a wedding ceremony of their common friend. They took a detour to visit the Ganapati temple in Theur. They had almost reached when the SUV heading towards Nagar highway from Theur hit their car head-on and fled the spot. “The area does not have CCTV surveillance but we studied the CCTV footage in Theur town and located the SUV.
