The incident took place around 1.30am on the airport service road, about two kilometres from Navi Mumbai airport, police said.
The accused allegedly stopped the cab on the pretext of drinking water before moving to the rear seat beside the woman, police said. The woman was travelling to Panvel after a friend booked a cab for her following the party, according to the police. He allegedly grabbed her hand and attempted to disrobe her,” said an official of the Navi Mumbai Police.
“The driver stopped the vehicle on the deserted service road, stepped out briefly, and then re-entered the car, sitting on the rear seat next to the woman. After the incident, the woman contacted her family and went to Panvel Police Station to lodge a complaint. Since the alleged incident took place within the jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai airport police station, Panvel police escorted her to the appropriate police station.
NAVI MUMBAI: A woman passenger travelling home after attending a party in Chembur allegedly faced molestation and an attempted assault by a cab driver who took the vehicle to a deserted road near Navi Mumbai airport late on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.
