Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has issued a reminder to all Ganapati mandals regarding the importance of obtaining authorized temporary power connections. The appeal emphasizes the need for strict adherence to electrical safety measures during the upcoming annual festival. This initiative aims to prevent accidents and ensure a safe celebration for all participants.

​A state power utility official said the festival should be celebrated in a safe and incident-free environment, and in consideration of public safety, no mandal should use electricity unauthorizedly, and adequate care should be taken while erecting mandaps near electric wires or poles. “Ganapati mandals are advised to decide the height of the Ganapati idol and the chariot design keeping in view the height of overhead power lines in roads and lanes during arrival and immersion processions. Similarly, safety norms should be followed, while laying wiring for mandaps and illumination. To avoid accidents, the work should be done only through certified and skilled electrical contractors,” added Ardad. MSEDCL has also appealed to mandals to use LED lights for energy conservation, use solar energy in Ganapati mandaps for environmental protection, and create public awareness about energy saving and eco-friendly Ganeshotsav. Mandals can now secure immediate temporary power connections by applying through MSEDCL’s official mobile app or its online website. Dnyaneshwar Ardad, the public relations officer for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar zone of MSEDCL, confirmed this development, highlighting the utility’s efforts to ease access for community celebrations.
