Sheetal Teli-Ugale, the Pune divisional commissioner designated as the ‘Electoral Roll Observer’ by the Election Commission of India (ECI), is set to commence her tour across several districts in the Pune division. Her itinerary includes visits to Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Satara. This initiative aims to oversee the electoral roll preparation and ensure compliance with electoral regulations in these regions.
Teli-Ugale to Inspect Polling Preparations Ahead of Electoral Roll Hearings
Teli-Ugale is set to visit several districts in Maharashtra to oversee preparations for upcoming hearings related to claims and objections concerning the draft electoral rolls, which were published on August 31. Her schedule includes visits to Solapur and Sangli on Tuesday, Kolhapur and Satara on Wednesday, and Pune district on September 10.
The hearings are part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, which has yet to gain momentum despite the deletion of millions of voter names. The deadline for submitting claims and objections regarding these deletions is September 30.
During her visits to polling booths, Teli-Ugale will engage with booth level officers (BLOs) and voters to ensure that the electoral process runs smoothly.

There will be discussions on the draft rolls published, preparations for hearings and other things to ensure that electoral rolls are clean, with no valid voter kept out of the rolls,” said an election officer from Kolhapur. “As per directions of the ECI, the ERO will also interact with MPs, MLAs and representatives of political parties at the district headquarters.
