Three fire tenders were pressed into service and firefighters worked for around 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
By the time emergency teams arrived, flames were shooting several metres above the bus and thick smoke was visible from a distance, according to witnesses. On receiving information, ADCP South Vasanth Kumar Rallapalli, ACP Gosainganj and SHO of Sushant Golf City reached the spot with police personnel. Despite the efforts, the sleeper bus was completely gutted. The incident also disrupted traffic on Shaheed Path. Police temporarily halted movement near the affected stretch and diverted vehicles through alternate routes to facilitate firefighting and ensure public safety. After the fire was extinguished, a crane was arranged to remove the burnt vehicle and restore traffic flow.
