T N Krishnankutty
Kottayam : Renowned cinematographer T N Krishnankutty passed away in Alappuzha on Monday at the age of 96. Krishnankutty first handled the camera in 1960 for the movie ‘Umma’, produced by Udaya Studio and directed by Kunchacko. He served as cinematographer for over 70 films, including ‘Ladies Hostel’, Hariharan’s directorial debut. His last film was Madakkayathra (1985), directed by George Vettam.

The minister said he played a decisive role in shaping the visual language of an important era in Malayalam cinema. He worked with directors including Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, M M Neshan, P J Antony, Sashikumar, A B Raj, Venu, K P Pillai, and K Narayanan. He is survived by his wife, Lalithamma, and children Harikrishnan, Jayakrishnan, and Jyothikrishna.
